REGULAR BOARD MEETING

to Order: Meeting called to order at 7:07 by Diane Barker
Randy Zelenka moved that the
minutes of the February 2 meeting be approved as written; Ken Hays seconded the
motion and the motion carried unanimously.
REPORTS:
Vice Commodore:
Ken Hays reported that he had researched the cost of marker lights; he says suitable lights can be purchased for $120 per light; the purchase of such lights was again tabled until a later date.
Ken also reported that he had been in contact with Tom Manney in regards to installation of gutters on the new shelter. Tom has made a contract with an installer who will install the gutters in the near future.
Rear Commodore:
Wayne Martin reported that he should have a quote on the cost of liability insurance within a week.
Wayne also reported that he would design hinges for the walkway portion of the docks. The current hinges have been repaired many times; they need to be replaced with a more durable hinge system.
Social Director:
Jane Mullen announced that the Spring Banquet would be at the Manhattan Country Club on Friday, April 2, gathering at 6:00 p.m. with dinner at 6:30 p.m. The menu will be an Italian buffet including dessert. The cost of the meal, tax, and gratuities will be $15.61 per diner. Jane moved that each attendee be charged $14.00 and that the Club pay for the remainder; Tom Albright seconded the motion and it was approved unanimously. Greg Wurst, Corps of Engineers, will speak on “Sailing on Kansas Lakes.”
Jane also reported that snacks, coffee, etc. would be provided on workday, April 3rd.
Treasurer:
Tom Albright distributed a written treasurer’s report.
Secretary:
Bart Bartholomew reported
that he had prepared a new membership roster based upon the information
received with the applications.
Bart will mail the March 15
newsletter to all members on the roster at that time. Included will be membership cards, membership rosters, and member
handbooks (for new members only). The
COE Safety Brochures will be distributed at the Spring Banquet and be on hand
in the storage building at the Club grounds.
Race Director:
Randy Zelenka reported that he had patched a racing buoy, had a tire for the green tractor repaired, and was working on seats for the front of the committee boat.
Commodore:
Diane Barker reported that she is still working with Jack Hayes, Jane Thompson and Henry Otto to design the seminar; she will submit a budget for the seminar at the next Board meeting; all wives/ladies of the Club will be invited to attend the seminar.

BUSINESS:
Jobs for Spring Work Day:
Work on docks
Reinforce the roof on the old shelter
Repair moorings (Wayne Martin, Bob Mullen and one other person)
Paint new shelter
Replace cable on mast lift
Train people to drive the Ford tractor (Bart Bartholomew)
General Grounds Maintenance
Trim/shape the trees
Policy on use of Ford
tractor:
After considerable discussion about the need to provide training on and control access to the Ford tractor, Ken Hays moved that the following policy statement be approved: Only members who have completed a training course will be authorized to operate the Ford tractor. The three Board members currently authorized to give training and control keys are: Wayne Martin, Ken Hays and Bart Bartholomew.
Access to boat lift:
The Vice Commodore will control access to the boatlift.
Adjournment: The meeting adjourned at about 8:40 p.m. with a motion by Wayne
Martin and second by Randy Zelenka; next meeting will be on April 5 at Bob
Mullen’s home.
