REGULAR BOARD MEETING

November 7 2005

Directors present: Diane Barker, Bob Mullen, Ken Hays, Tom Albright, Ned Gatewood and Wayne Martin

Directors absent: Bart Bartholomew

Others present: None

Meeting called to order at 6:45 by Diane.

Minutes of the October meeting approved unanimously.

REPORTS:

            COMMODORE: No report.

VICE COMMODORE: Ken reminded us of the winterization workday on Dec. 3rd.

            REAR COMMODORE:

Wayne reported that Bob and Tom Brosius had serviced two moorings and moved another. Mooring #1 may be wrapped around a stump.

The slate of nominees as of the board meeting was rather short but more members would be recruited. An email of the slate to sent to directors on Friday.

                TREASURER:

Tom distributed a written report for the month as well as the annual report to be presented at the annual meeting.

The KSU Sailing Club has been invoiced for annual dues in the amount of $565.  Some of their many boats may be sold to pay the outstanding amount.

RACE DIRECTOR: Bob reported that all the trophies were ready and would be presented at the annual meeting.

SOCIAL DIRECTOR: Ned updated the board on the annual meeting banquet. 25 people have responded. The menu was discussed.

SECRETARY: Absent

OLD BUSINESS:

None brought forward.

NEW BUSINESS:

After discussion it was decided that fuel stabilizer would be added to fuel in the tractor, committee boat and any fuel in storage. The fuel in the generator will be drained and disposed of since it is two years old. Some of the other tasks to be accomplished, such as clean up and pulling the dock sections out, were also discussed.

The trash issue was touched on. The dumpster may not be the best option for the club. Tom was going to look into prices on smaller wheeled totes as well as checking prices with another disposal service. The issue will be re-addressed in the spring.

A card for Carl Hinrichs will be available for signing at the banquet to let him know all of his friends at the club are thinking of him. Carl is battling stomach cancer.

Bob mentioned the safety program, or lack thereof, and said the club should really consider some sort of program in the coming year.

The issue of requiring all boats to carry insurance will be addressed by the next board.  When our current liability policy is renewed this spring inquiries will be made as to the most prudent course for the club to take.

The abandoned boat issue was brought forward and beaten to death again. The simplest course would be for the owners to be responsible and remove them. Having to deal with the logistics of removal and disposal may be difficult for the club.

The sign has apparently been stolen. If we could somehow convince the thieves to return the sign and steal the abandoned boats all would be well. A report has been filed.

Meeting was adjourned at 7:31 p.m.
