REGULAR BOARD MEETING

September 12, 2005

 

 

Directors present: Diane Barker, Bob Mullen, Ken Hays, Ned Gatewood, Bart Bartholomew and Wayne Martin

 

Directors absent: Tom Albright

 

Others present: None

 

Meeting called to order at 6:34 by Diane Barker

 

Minutes of the July meeting approved as written.

 

 

REPORTS:

 

            COMMODORE:

 

Awards: Commodore Barker reported that she would like to present awards to various individuals at the fall banquet.  Bart Bartholomew suggested that the Club may want to consider giving officer-unique burgees to outgoing officers at the end of their term.  Commodore Barker will work up a proposal and present it to the Board for approval at the next meeting. 

 

Scout Activity:  Commodore Barker reported that the Washington County Scouts were very appreciative of the opportunity to use our facilities.

 

VICE COMMODORE:

Ken reported that he has had very little time to work at the club; he has done a bit of mowing.

 

            REAR COMMODORE:

Wayne reported that he has pulled up the dock twice recently to match the rising lake levels.

 

            TREASURER:

Tom was absent but a written report was distributed.

 

            RACE DIRECTOR:

 

Long Distance Race:  Bob reported that 5 boats had competed in the Labor Day Long Distance Race

 

John Deere tractor:  Bob reported that the John Deere once again has needed a new tire.  A discussion about the possibility of non-pneumatic tires followed; several board members will research availability.

 

Committee boat:  Bob reported that the boat ran well on recent test runs.

 

            SOCIAL DIRECTOR: No report.

 

SECRETARY: Bart distributed new rosters;  he questioned whether the KSU Sailing Club had paid their 2005 membership and storage fees.

 

OLD BUSINESS:

 

Dinghy dock:  Ken and Bob explained the need for underwater and shoreline anchors for securing the dock.  They also explained that emplacement of the dock may be attempted at work day; if unsuccessful, it will be delayed until next Spring.

 

            Wall and counter at north end of shelter:  Work on these will be done after completion of the dinghy dock.

 

            Patio on east side of shelter:  Work on this will be done after completion of the dinghy dock.

 

NEW BUSINESS:

 

            Work day:  Saturday, September 17

 

                        1.  Gravel for approach to dinghy dock

            Ken Hays will order 2 inch gravel

            Wayne Martin will bring his tractor with blade and front-end loader

2.  Weed eat dinghy park

3.  Paint club sign

4.  Move trailers and mow

5.  Possibly service moorings

 

            Pig Roast:

 

                        Ned reported that 33 people had signed up to attend; he will add three more and invite the three people who returned our docks.  He reminded us to bring a side dish and to be there at 5 p.m.

 

            New Board Nominees:  Bob and Wayne asked Board members for help in identifying potential board members for next year.

 

            Tim Shipley’s request to use facilities:  Bart reminded the Board of Tim Shipley’s request to use Club facilities on 15 October for a gathering of the families of the three KSU students who died on the lake in December 2001.
