Minutes: The Feb. 7th 2011
minutes were approved as read.
Reports:
Commodore - Crespino reported that we have a new lock on
the front gate due to someone using bolt cutters on the old lock. A car
had been driven into the ditch on the west side of the road, and people were
towing the car out, so they cut our lock to get access to the car.
Because he called the police and needed an address, Jim discovered that we do
have a street address. We will find out what it is and post it on the
grounds like the shelter or shed in case someone needs it in an emergency.
Vice-Commodore - Mahorney reported that the new grill is
at the shelter and ready to use.
Rear Commodore - B.
Mullen had no report.
Treasurer - Uhlarik reported
that our insurance for on the beach liability is $350 and regatta or racing
insurance is $580 per year for a total of $980. We will keep insurance
costs listed with administration rather than listing regatta insurance under
the racing committee.
The Board agreed that needing a co-signature on checks
for amounts over $200 is not strictly enforced.
The port-a-pot issue is straightened out. Scott Tucker
is the service manager who needs to be notified when we want service. It is not
feasible to purchase our own port-a-pot because no local company would service
it. Our port-a-pot will be ready for work day, April 16th. In further
discussion of local companies, it was noted that
Secretary - Barker had no
report.
Social Director - J.
Mullen announced that the Spring Launch Banquet will be held at Valentino’s on
Sat., April 30th. Meals will run between $8-$9.
Henry Otto will hold the Annual Sock Burning on the Vernal
Equinox at the Yacht Club with dinner at the Little Grill that evening.
Jane is planning a
Race Director - Hays
reported that Henry Otto will hold a Scout Breakfast on Sat. before the Labor
Day Race, May 28th.
Old Business
New Business
Delinquent dues/fees
plan. After checking with the treasurer and checking the grounds,
Commodore Crespino will send a letter notifying people who have not paid their
dues and/or fees.
Tractor/Lawn Mower Maintenance. The Craftsman is hard to
start and will be serviced at Sears or K-Hill. Crespino will get the
tractor running before work day.
Junk Removal. An ad for the
trailer and other junk will be in the paper by workday so that junk can sell or
be hauled off the premises.
Painting of Club proposed by Ned
Gatewood.
After a lengthy discussion the board voted to turn down the
proposal as not being an appropriate expenditure of members‘
money. The Board appreciates innovative ideas and fundraising
projects, but a subscription would be a more appropriate way to proceed instead
of risking Club funds. Ned is free to pursue this idea by contacting
members, taking orders, and handling the project with the Board’s good wishes.
Gatewood Proposal to Build Shed. Ned wants
to build a 2X2X6 locker and place it on the S.W. corner outside the dinghy
park. This locker would be for oars and lifejackets. The board voted no
for several reasons. The locker could interfere with people backing
trailers and could start an unwanted precedent of people putting storage units
along the outside of the dinghy park. These additional structures would
also have to be maintained. While it would be the owner’s responsibility
to do this, it would also be another thing the Club would ultimately be
responsible for.
New Member Welcome Letter &
Buddy Plan.
The Treasurer will pass the information along to the Commodore when a
new member joins so that the Commodore can send a welcome letter.
Established members will adopt a new member, make them welcome, sail with them,
take them sailing, etc. Jim will print handbooks as needed for new
members.
Inspection of Boat Lift. Crespino will call
Gene Lindgren and ask him to do any welding that might be needed to repair the
boat lift.
Adjournment: 8:05 p.m.
Respectfully Submitted,
Diane Barker
Secretary
