Additions to Agenda:        none

Reports:

Commodore - none

Vice-Commodore - none

Rear Commodore - B. Mullen reported that a hinge on the dock is already broken. It will be repaired as soon as possible. Bob spoke with Greg Wurst about an anchor for the harbor light. Greg offered an engine block for the anchor.

Treasurer - John had questions about how the county appraiser arrived at a property tax valuation of $675 for the BVYC. That valuation is based on the Committee Boat and the pontoon boat (barge).

A-1 Johnny-on-the-Spot service is close to $100 a mo.  Trash Service through Howie’s would require them to reorganize their route, so they are not keen to serve us. It was suggested we contact George Mallon Trash Service in St. George. They already serve the west side of the lake.

Secretary - none

Racing - Ken Hays reported that an informal race in the harbor is scheduled for May 21st.  The Memorial Day Festivities will be held on May 28th, Sat. and will start     with Henry Otto’s hearty breakfast. The Opti races will follow breakfast. Then    after lunch we will hold the Scott Liebler Memorial Long Distance Race. The             Race Comm. will be responsible for lunch rather than the Social Comm. Ken will       send e-mail to the membership reminding them of the races.

Social - Jane Mullen counts the Spring Launch at Valentino’s a success. She received 26 reservations, and 33 people attended. The club spent $25 on decorations and     $10 on a tip for the restaurant staff. Jessica Crespino won the word game.

Jane would like to have a notice in the newsletter that BVYC is a member of   RSVP. We can request volunteers to help with Club projects, and our member’s volunteer hours for RSVP requests will go in the registry of senior volunteer hours.

The Sale and Sail has been scheduled for June 11th.  We will have the sale of boating items, lunch, and a sail.

Old Business:

Club Address.  Hays will pursue this issue with the county.  The Club currently does not have an address, but we need one for Emergency response, services and utilities, etc.

Grass and gravel.  Jonathan will contact the Corps about planting grass. He will order gravel for the drive.

K-State Sailing Club.  Crespino will write a letter to the K-State Sailing Club  offering to forgive their debt in exchange for the boats they have stored on the BVYC grounds. The value of the boats will probably not cover the dues and storage they owe, but this is a graceful way for them to get out of their debt. The KSU Foundation does not consider itself to be involved with the K-State Sailing Club, so they need not be included in the letter to the Sailing club.

New Business:       none

Next Board Meeting:   June 6th at Jonathan Mahorney’s at 6:30 p.m.

Adjournment:    8:30 p.m.

Respectfully submitted,

Diane Barker

Secretary
