Carl Hinrichs and Tom Manney win first race;
Rookie Sunfish captain, Bart Bartholomew, wins second

Race Director
Falling and backing winds characterized the
conditions on Sept.30 for the second day of the fall race series of Blue Valley
Yacht Club after a postponement the previous week. Two disabled boats couldn't
sail so the fleet was small. The backing wind caused port tack starts for each
race, even though the starting line was adjusted between the races.
Carl Hinrichs with crew Tom Manney sailing a Catalina 22 took first and second in the two races. Franz Samelson in a Laser took second and fourth. "Bart" Bartholomew on a Sunfish placed third in the first race and then won the second race, his first victory in that craft. Dick Bailey took fourth and third in his Mariner 2+2, the improvement being ascribed to on-the-lake equipment repairs during the first race.
Two more dates are scheduled to complete the fall series.
