Secretary’s Message

It has been a fun-filled summer at the lake. I hope everyone has been able to spend some time sailing. It was my hope to have our instructional clinic for beginning sailors this summer. Unfortunately, a hectic travel schedule prohibited me from planning such an event. If members are still interested, please send me an e-mail. We can then begin planning ahead of time for next summer. If you have news or stories you would like published, please let me know at tbk296@aol.com

Happy Sailing,
Tracie

Shelter News

If anyone has been to the lake this weekend, you would have witnessed the removal of the old shelter. Some discussion is ensuing about using the old shelter as an equipment shed near the boat lift (to keep the committee boat and tractor in).

From John Joehnk:

The new shelter has arrived! Ken H. will try to get the cement work for footers while I am gone.  At this point, we plan to wait until next year to complete the floor, so we will have a new shelter with half concrete floor and half grass.

The electricity is also hooked up with proper polarity and has been used some this summer. We will use it during the construction of the shelter also.

Also I am going to try to push some gravel into the mud at the water’s edge to help reduce sinking in the mud. If I do not succeed, we will ask Gene Lindgren or Tom Manney to attempt this.

In Remembrance:

As many of you know, Bill Foy passed away earlier this summer.  Bill was the first friendly face to greet Sean and me when we joined the BVYC.  His wit and sailing wisdom will be missed.
