Rear Commodore's Message My wife Jennifer and I have been BVYC members for two years. Most of you have seen us at the club with our children, Remy and Nathanael. It's been a privilege meeting the fine people we've come to know at the club and look forward to enjoying the camaraderie in the coming year. I've been honored with the board position of rear commodore, a job that admittedly I do not know a great deal about, but one that with the help of the more learned board members I will endeavor to carry out with some degree of competence. It is my desire to contribute to the yacht club, and by being involved perhaps I can expand my somewhat limited knowledge of sailing, being a relative newcomer to the sport. If any members have suggestions for improvements at the club please let me know. I'll do my best to carry out any needed tasks, of course working within the constraints of the budget and necessary board approval. You'll probably be able to catch me at the club most Saturday mornings once the weather becomes agreeable, since it is my intention to accomplish the bulk of my duties at that time. Mornings are for working, but afternoons are for sailing, so if we don't see at the club we'll see you on the water!
Secretary's Message I am pleased to have the privilege of serving as your secretary. I will strive to keep you informed of the events of the Blue Valley Yacht Club via this monthly newsletter and the web site at URL: http://www.bluevalleyyachtclub.org/ I am, however, able to keep you informed only if you keep me informed of your current mailing address and, if you have email service, your current email address. PLEASE inform me when you change either address so I can update my rosters and stay in touch with you. To save Club funds, we will send printed copies of only two newsletters (this one and the one published in March) to those people who have email service. Every newsletter is posted to the web site. Please Bookmark or save this site as a Favorite and then you can quickly and easily read the current and past copies of newsletters. I have enclosed a membership application form and the calendar of events. The completed membership application with payment is due on or before March 1, 2003; if you misplace the form that I enclosed, you can print one from the web site. The calendar of events is as complete and accurate as the Board of Directors can make it at this time. This calendar is on the web site; if changes occur they will be posted to the web site as soon as they are known. I suggest you look at the calendar of events on the web site frequently. I have encouraged each Board member to provide input for each publication of this newsletter. I, likewise, invite you to submit for publication items of interest to other Club members. Thanks in advance for your cooperation throughout the year. Bart
