Our special guest will be Harvey Irby. Join us as Harv regales the BVYC members with tales of sailing adventures that span the globe. He crewed for many world class races and experienced some exciting sails in the Caribbean and Europe. He has come back to shore in Kansas with memories of regattas, races, and moonlight sails. Harv will share his stories and photographs with the BVYC. |

Once again we find ourselves closing out another sailing season , only this time with ample water in the lake and some incredibly beautiful days to enjoy. Hopefully everyone has enjoyed the new shelter and improved facilities this year. Our club has seen its share of upgrading on several fronts during the year. We now have a new work barge to check moorings |

with. There are just a few "bugs" to work out of it, but it will be a vast improvement over the old platform which is no longer useable, having been declared a protected wetland by the EPA. A member has agreed to tow the old barge away at some point in the future. The new barge is built on a pontoon platform given to the club by the Sea Scouts under the direction of Henry Otto. A bomb winch was donated by Tom Manney that will handle any size mooring weights we have quite easily. (Continued on page 4) |
