(Continued from page 1) the numbers 5074 to the starboard yardarm, and finally, raised International Code Flags spelling out J. O. E. H. N. K. to the port yardarm. Having raised all the planned flags, the scout contingent retired to the sidelines for the rest of the ceremony. Chris Ross then asked the people present to join him in a Moment of Silence in memory of John Joehnk and all other fellow sailors who had "passed over the bar." Chris also introduced other individuals who had been instrumental in the procurement and erection of the memorial flagpole. Henry Otto, the driving force behind the memorial flagpole, then made brief remarks heralding John Joehnk's exemplary leadership of the Yacht Club and his unswerving support to the scout sailing programs. Henry emphasized that the flagpole was a fitting memorial to John's selfless service to the sailing and scouting communities. The ceremony closed with Bart Bartholomew leading the group in singing "God Bless America." Bart then dismissed the attendees and they converged in the vicinity of the Club shelter for refreshments.
