After the business meeting, the sailors and guests of BVYC were treated to an interesting slide show presented by Harv Irby. Harv has crewed for many world-class races and has experienced exciting sails in the Caribbean and European waters. He came back to Kansas with memories of regattas, races and moonlight sails. Harv and his wife, Jan, very graciously shared these memories with those in attendance at the BVYC banquet. |

(Continued from page 2) Time and Weather Checks Everyone can arrive at the Club on race day with synchronized watches if each Captain will take the time to set his/her watch using the link on the BVYC home page which links you to the Official US Time page. If everyone does this before traveling to the Club grounds, all racers' watches will truly be synchronized. Similarly, the link to Weather Underground will give you the current weather conditions, including the radar image, as well as the forecast for the next few days. Use the Weather Underground information to plan your sailing and other water activities. Of course, for a more accurate, deck-side report you can always call Bart or Mary and they'll give you an on-site weather report (which by the way, is often much different from the weather experienced in Manhattan.) |
