The BVYC Sailing Season finally got off to a brilliant start with the Memorial Day Weekend activities. A special thanks to Henry Otto for getting everyone out early on Memorial Day Weekend with a bonfire/cookout Friday night and a great breakfast Saturday morning. Randy Zelenka is to be congratulated for his persistence. After having to call previous races because of high winds, he finally got one off. The long distance race was held with some surprising results. Check out Randy's race report and please volunteer to officiate for a race in the summer series. Another special thanks to Jane and Bob Mullen for providing coffee before the Scott Liebler Memorial Long Distance Race and the wonderful hamburgers and hot dogs afterward. The fun will continue this coming weekend with the first Women's Sailing Seminar. For those of you who might have forgotten to sign up, there are still 4 openings. The seminar will start Saturday, June 19that Java in Aggieville with a ground school from 10:30 until noon. Refreshments provided. Jack Hayes and Jayne Thompson will teach the ground school. On Sunday, June 20th from 2 to 5 we will hold the sailing portion of the seminar out at the BVYC. Our volunteer instructors include Ann Murray, Chris Ross, Gene Lindgren, Henry Otto, and moi. Please extend a warm welcome to new members Janie and Bob Claar from Manhattan. The Claars who will sail a 17 foot Hobie cat have asked for advice on working on their boat. Assure them that they have come to the correct place to seek advice. I am pleased to announce that we have passed the yearly inspection by the Corps of Engineers with just a couple of chores to complete. So the stage is set. The winds are calming, the water is high, all we need is you on the high green seas. |

For Sale: I have a 16 ft Venture catamaran for sale. The main sail is rough but usable the jib needs major repair. The trapoline needs to be replaced. The trailer needs a new paint job, and wiring, but has new wheels. I would like to sell the cat and its trailer for $150--OBO, I will more than likely be out of town for the summer due to school and will be graduating next year and don't have a clue where I will be located at--hopefully near a lake. Thanks, |
