Fall Pig Roast enjoyed by many members |
|
Fifty two hungry people turned out for the annual pig roast on September 18 at the club shelter. The weather was beautiful, the pork was tasty and the table crammed with tasty dishes prepared by the members. The event was held following a KSU football game but everyone got to the BVYC grounds at nearly the same time as the pig so no one missed out on hot food or cold drinks. Warm weather and a light breeze held into the evening so several sailors raised the sails and continued the good time aboard their boats. Seven year old Ian Miller did not party aboard his boat but did entertain us with his sailing prowess by skillfully helming a remote controlled sloop around the harbor. The club grounds sparkled as sailors arrived at the pig roast. This was a result of the labors of twenty members who attended the fall workday held that morning. After a nutritious breakfast at daybreak the group set to work and gave the grounds a good face lift. The shelter even got a power washing and was free of bird droppings. Seldom has so much been done by so few; nearly everyone had done a good day's work when they departed in late morning. It was a remarkable job and the neat appearance of the grounds seemed to make the food taste much better. |
