Enjoy cool weather and clear skies but BE SAFE
By Bob Mullen

Although weather is cooler than normal, the lake level is higher than normal for this time of year. According to Greg Wurst, COE, the lake will remain at its present level of around 1075 for some time because a drawdown of Tuttle Pond to build a road and addition to the park. Outflow of the lake will remain at a trickle. This should be welcome news to BVYC sailors. The beautiful lake, lack of rain and predicted sunshine in spite of cool weather makes for a great fall sail. A warm jacket and thermos of spiced cider would enhance the sailing atmosphere. Dinghy sailors should note the decreasing water temperatures and keep safety in mind when heading out.

Consider taking the Kansas On-line Boater Safety Course
