Editorial
By Bart Bartholomew

I am glad that I was present at the Fall Banquet and heard with my own ears that I had been “appointed” as the newsletter editor.  If I hadn’t heard it myself, I would have thought it was either a bad joke or a bad dream.  Since I know it’s true, allow me to thank you for the opportunity to serve.

Actually, I enjoy being the newsletter “editor.”  What I don’t enjoy is being the newsletter “writer.”  Here is where each member enters the equation.

I can not imagine a single member of the Blue Valley Yacht Club who doesn’t have something to share with the other members.  If you are wondering, “What can I share?” here are a few ideas.  You could: write an article about a very special sailing experience right here on Tuttle Reservoir, write an article about a sailing experience you have had on a vacation, write an article about a certain sailing skill that you think may be educational to new or less-experienced sailors within the club, submit a photograph pertaining to any of the above, write a book review on one of your favorite sailing books,  . . .   the list goes on endlessly.  I, of course, will look forward to lots of input from our board of directors but I am of the opinion that the newsletter must be more than their reports.  Please do your part in making the Konza Sailor a worthwhile publication.

While I hopefully have your attention I will also address my function as you webmaster and communications coordinator.

As webmaster, I attempt to maintain a website that provides information to prospective members and serves as a repository for historical documents and photographs.   Again, I know that most of you have digital cameras.  Please send me photographs of sailing activities so that I can post them on the Club’s web site.  I promise to give you credit for the photographs that I use.

As communications coordinator, I attempt to keep an up-to-date email distribution list that contains a valid email address for each of our members.  I can only do that if you tell me when you change your email address.  Our current distribution list for all the members is:

konzaboaters@bluevalleyyachtclub.org  If you have a need/desire to write to the entire club membership, the above address will take your message to everyone.

Last, but not least, even though I am absent for extended periods of time, I am never far from my laptop computer.  I look forward to hearing from you throughout the year.  Smooth sailing!  Bart
